An arrest was made recently by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office after working together with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
On Aug. 9, Detective Nathan Long worked a joint investigation with Wright County Sheriff’s Sgt. Akers after receiving a report that Timothy Brill, 61, of Douglas County, was attempting to meet underage girls on the internet.
Brill had sent pictures of his private areas to girls he believed to be as young as 11 years of age. Evidence was found that Brill had arranged to meet a female he believed to be 11 years of age in Stafford.
Lt. Wallace, Cpl. Nelson and Detective Long served a search warrant on Brill’s residence in Eastern Douglas County, where 13 additional items of evidence were seized to include several firearms. Brill is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms.
Brills was arrested and a warrant was obtained for the following criminal charges: Attempted statutory rape, enticement or attempted enticement of a child, possession of child pornography, tampering with physical evidence, furnish pornographic material or attempt to furnish to a minor.
Brill is being held without bond.
Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase would like to thank Sgt. Akers for her assistance on this case and commends the tenacity of his deputies for apprehending this child predator. Protecting the children of this community remains our number one priority.
“It’s a great day when our counties can work together, taking down predators and protecting our children,” said Wright County Sheriff Sonny Byerley. “Outstanding work Detective Akers, Detective Long, WCSO and DCSO.”
