Commumity Foundation set for annual bowling tournament
The Mountain Grove Area Community Foundation has an afternoon of fun scheduled for Sunday afternoon, April 6 when the Foundation will hold its annual bowling tournament. Kim Norris, Foundation board member explains, “This will be a 9-pin no-tap tournament. If you get 9 pins on your first ball, it counts as a strike. The idea is for the bowlers to come out and have a good time.”
Adults and children are welcome to be on teams. Each team will have five bowlers. The afternoon will include two tournament sessions starting at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. There will be two games of bowling in each session. During each session of the tournament, there will be a 50/50 fundraiser in which the winner will receive half of the funds raised. First, second, and third high scores will be recognized for individual men’s, women’s, youth (15 and under) and team categories. The “prizes” are that winners will be able to direct contributions to non-profit groups of their choice. This is a great way to have fun and support non-profit activities in our community.
“This tournament will be the major spring fundraiser for the Foundation,” according to Dr. David Barbe, Foundation president. “The Foundation is one of our community’s greatest assets, but many people are not aware of the Foundation or what it does. Since the Foundation was established in 2004, it has granted over $800,000 to MG schools, churches, and local non-profit clubs and organizations.” The proceeds from this event will help fund additional local grants the Foundation will make later this spring. Registration is $250 per team, and spaces are limited so register soon. To register, contact any Foundation Board member. Foundation Board members include Dr. David Barbe, Kim Norris, Liz Citron, Dusty Schober, Lisa Watson, Matt Brown, Jared Moore, Jim Dickey, Dr. Preston Thomas, Dr. Katie Peterson and Shawna Plummer.
